In the spring of 2008, my then 6 year old son, Sy, and I picked up and moved our lives from Toronto, Canada, back to where I was born: Budapest, Hungary. I've been walking around with my camera since we arrived here. This is a collection of some of my hundreds of street shots as I rediscover "home".

I have a thing for scenes in the sweet shops in Budapest - cukrászdák. Just such a chill place to be. this one was near Margít bridge, Pest side, on Balassi Bálint utca, evening.

Farsang buli (Mardi Gras party) for the kids in Sy's 2nd grade class at school. mmm, junk food. and costumes. my little caveman. I cooked a lot of chicken legs to get those bones for Sy's necklace - not an easy task for a vegetarian. Sy was luvin it - of course, he loves meat. He won 2nd place for his costume (thank you, thank you, bowing..) - second runner up to a little girl who, ironically, was dressed as an African woman - black ski mask and mop for hair. Hungarians still have some steps to take when it comes to embracing other cultures....
Farsang. Little girl in Sy's 2nd grade class dressed as Cleopatra for Farsang - a traditional Hungarian holiday when people dress in costumes - Mardi Gras, basically.
